Cambodia, the Rock and Roll That Was Slaughtered Convicted for rock and roll, I think the most famous in history is certainly the cosmic plastic people. In 1976, this band attracted a loyal fan, who was still a playwright at that time; his collection of writings wouldn't reach us for many years. Soon after, this band of bad boys was thrown into prison, and in fact, their music had nothing to do with politics — the reason was merely drug use, alcoholism, promiscuity, and the supposedly high decibel levels of their instruments. The prison sentences were not long, ranging from a few months to a couple of years, but this brief stint in jail immortalized them in history — the playwright was angered, he initiated rescue protests, and through this, he entered politics. Then, ten years later, the glorious Velvet Revolution saw this die-hard fan of cosmic plastic people become the president of the Czech Republic. Many articles about this legendary band begin with the phrase, "a legendary rock band that toppled a regime." Yes, despite being imprisoned, the truth, as the West would say, was still on the side of the rock musicians. And about the same year they were incarcerated, in Southeast Asia, which is exceptionally far from the Czech Republic, countless rock musicians were beheaded for their music, with not even their names left behind.
