Zhang, who fell into a massive debt due to a trap set by a friend, is forced to rent a haunted house in Hualien with his family of four. This place was previously the site of the infamous Wuzi murder case. On the very first day in the haunted house, some vague ghostly shadows appear, and Zhang's sudden decision to move causes discontent for Zhang's mother and elder sister. Even when they complain to Zhang, he, being skeptical of ghosts and gods, dismisses their fears. Zhang's mother and elder sister gradually realize the truth about Zhang's debt and his attempts to avoid debt collectors. Meanwhile, the policeman who investigated the Wuzi murder case, Hu, visits, acting deranged and repeatedly chanting the curse of September 4th, warning the Zhang family of a potential massacre on that day. He urges them to move out quickly. Additionally, the inexplicable fever of the younger brother and his strange behavior of talking to unseen entities deepen the family's fear of the house. Yet, Zhang continues to act with a sense of authority, ignoring their concerns. Until one night, Zhang is drawn to the back door on the first floor, which often emits strange sounds. When he goes downstairs, he comes face to face with the seven members of the Wuzi family in the dining room, causing him to flee in terror...
