One day, Sakaki Shinichi (played by Kenta Kaku), now a stock trader, reunites with his childhood friend and ex-girlfriend Yamaguchi Sumino (played by Misako Renbutsu) and old friends from a volunteer activity during their school days. While Sakaki leads a luxurious life that others envy, what they don't know is that he is at a critical crossroads in his life. In fact, Sakaki is severely ill and has little time left, so he secretly resolves to unleash his inner "murderous impulse." The next day, the corpse of a young woman named Okamoto Maki is discovered. Detective Aoi Ryo (played by Kota Yoshida) from the Metropolitan Police Department's First Investigation Division and area detective Yabe Tomoki (played by Akihiro Nakao) begin their investigation. Aoi, who has been suffering from a recurring illness for three years without disclosing it to anyone, continues to push through the pain to solve the case. However, his condition quickly deteriorates to a life-threatening level. Confronted with the threat of death, Aoi is determined to risk everything to uncover the truth. On the other hand, Sumino, upon learning that Sakaki has little time left, decides to return to his side. Her presence brings warmth to Sakaki, but even he cannot suppress this indescribable murderous impulse within him, so he begins his acts again... Meanwhile, another woman's body is found. While tracking Maki's movements through surveillance footage, Aoi unexpectedly discovers a man in sunglasses who had spoken to Maki. From the man's actions, Aoi realizes that he has a hearing impairment. Following this lead, Aoi starts to gather eyewitness accounts. However, during this process, his body fails him, and he loses consciousness, being sent to the hospital. Upon hearing about her father's hospitalization, Aoi Mizuki (played by Kaori Yamatani) rushes to the hospital. What she does not anticipate is that Sakaki is quietly approaching her...
