In a distant village in Siberia, Yegor is a forest guard who fearlessly fights against poachers in the jungle and values family, earning the respect of the villagers. Just as he looks forward to his wife's delivery of their second child, he is diagnosed with terminal cancer. Not only does he seek medical help, but he also turns to shamanic magic in an attempt to heal, which proves ineffective. With no other choice, inspired by the plot of an ancient Siberian epic, he decides to make a shocking move to completely change his identity and mock the impending death; however, the villagers and his family do not agree with his way of saving himself. The film is based on the director's childhood memories, upbringing, and Siberian legends, breaking taboos and illustrating how fear of the unknown can drive people to take extraordinary actions.
