Arthur (played by Albert Finney) is a twenty-three-year-old young man who is always indignant about the various injustices happening in society. However, with no outlet for his emotions, he spends all his time in pubs. Arthur has been maintaining a physical relationship with a married woman, Brenda (played by Rachel Roberts), which brings him both excitement and moral unease.
