Margaret (played by Sandra Bullock) is an executive at a well-known publishing company in the United States, outstanding in her work yet extremely domineering. Once she appears in the office, the atmosphere drops to freezing point; on the surface, her employees remain silent, but deep down, they secretly call her "the dragon lady." Margaret remains oblivious to all of this and continues her iron-fisted policies. Just as her career is at its peak, a devastating blow nearly knocks her off her feet—due to certain technical reasons, her visa cannot be renewed, and she must be deported back to her native Canada. To preserve everything she has worked for, Margaret decides to pretend to marry her assistant Andrew (played by Ryan Reynolds) in order to obtain the right to stay in America. Under half coercion, half temptation, Andrew reluctantly agrees to this absurd request. The immigration office will test the couple in a week, but Margaret still knows nothing about Andrew. That weekend, she and Andrew return to his hometown...
