Adapted from the Danish award-winning bestselling novel of the same name, Marie's lover Rasmus decides to move away from Copenhagen due to work, relocating to the West Jutland Peninsula in Denmark. This causes a dramatic change in Marie's life, and she reluctantly moves with Rasmus to the windy town of Vejle. While Rasmus quickly integrates into local life, Marie feels out of place. Later, as she learns to listen more and speak less, and begins to contribute to the local newspaper’s advice column, she gradually realizes that she might need Vejle as much as Vejle needs her.
