Based on Jeff Hobbs' biographical work "The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace." The book's protagonist is a boy named Robert Peace, who grows up in the Newark ghetto in New Jersey. He is accepted into Yale University as a biology major but tragically dies at the age of thirty in a drug gang shootout. The story is narrated by Robert's Yale roommate, who recounts this tale of seeming upward mobility from his state of origin, yet an inability to escape a tragic fate. The story of an inner-city Newark kid who attends Yale yet ultimately succumbs to harsh economic realities and the demons of his past.
