One day, a kind boy named Lucas (played by Jonah Hauer-King) encounters a lonely little puppy in an abandoned building. Despite his mother's prohibition against keeping pets, Lucas, unable to bear the thought of the puppy being uncared for, takes the puppy home and names her Bella. Thus, Bella becomes a new member of Lucas's family. One day, Lucas's mother takes Bella to a veterans' hospital for a check-up. Unexpectedly, Bella not only causes no trouble but also brings joy to the originally gloomy patients in the hospital, quickly becoming a beloved star there. An accident forces Lucas to leave Bella in a friend's care, and misunderstanding her owner's intentions, Bella decides to run away, relying on her courage and intelligence to reunite with her owner.
