The son of a wealthy businessman, Machi (played by Mio Yoshioka), has been obsessed with painting since his youth. After his father's business goes bankrupt and his parents commit suicide one after another, Machi's childhood turns bleak. Nevertheless, he never gives up on his dream of becoming a painter. As time passes, Machi (played by Yuurei Yanagi) grows into a young man who wanders the world of art. To improve his skills, he attends an art school where he meets a group of like-minded friends and experiences the joys and sorrows of life with them. He frequently visits galleries, but his works go unnoticed, except for the understanding he receives from Yuki (played by Kumiko Asou), a girl who works at the same printing factory. As he reaches middle age, Machi (played by Takeshi Kitano) remains unknown, but even in a life of poverty, his wife Yuki (played by Kanako Higuchi) stands by him, supporting each other as they continue down this challenging artistic path... This film won the Audience Award at the 2009 Sofia International Film Festival in Bulgaria.
