Lord Vader (David Prowse) drives the Rebel Alliance out of their base and sends thousands of probes to search for Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill). The Rebels are ambushed on the icy planet Hoth, where Luke is captured by a wampa during a patrol mission. After using the Force to escape and fainting, he hears Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness) telling him to go to Dagobah to train with Jedi Master Yoda. The Galactic Empire launches an attack on Hoth, and Han Solo (Harrison Ford), along with the Wookiee Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew), Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), and the droid C-3PO, escape in the Millennium Falcon to visit Han's old friend, Governor Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams), in Cloud City. However, they discover that Lando has made a deal with Lord Vader to betray Han and set a trap for Luke. Ignoring Yoda's warnings and determined to face danger alone, Luke inevitably faces a fierce battle. This film won the Oscar for Best Sound and the Academy Award for Special Visual Effects, and was nominated for Best Art Direction-Set Decoration and Best Original Score.
