Dr. Robert Morgan (Vincent Price) has been conducting research on bacteria in Central America, and over time, he accidentally gains an extraordinarily strong immune system. A terrible plague sweeps across the globe, leaving all living beings on Earth perished, except for Dr. Robert, who becomes the last human on the planet. Of course, Dr. Robert is not "alone," as those who died from the plague rise from their graves at midnight as terrifying zombies, gathering around Dr. Robert's home; the only thing that can halt their movement is sunlight. In a chance occurrence, Dr. Robert is shocked to learn that he is not the last survivor—somewhere in the world, there are others like him struggling to survive amid the disaster.
