This film adaptation of Rieko Maki's novel is the second installment of the “(not) HEROINE movies” project following "We Are Adults." It depicts the growth of Aiko Maeda, a graduate student with a bruise on the left side of her face. Aiko, who had been living a life dedicated to research, finds her situation dramatically changed after gaining attention from a report on “people with bruises or injuries on their faces.” The book is set to be adapted into a movie, and she becomes drawn to director Aita Tobisaka, whom she meets through a friend who is an editor. As Aiko develops feelings for the work-oriented Tobisaka, who is not hindered by women, she begins to confront her own insecurities head-on.
