Senior art director Zhang Yifeng, who was nominated for the Best Original Screenplay Award at the Golden Horse Awards for "Tears" alongside director Zheng Wentang, presents his new work "Goodbye! Ark." It quietly captures the endless loneliness in bustling cities and starkly portrays the indifference and alienation of the internet generation. Zhang Yifeng weaves multiple narratives to create a brutal tale of shattered ideals. The story describes Zheng Youjie, a blue-collar worker living on the fringes of the world, who is often bullied and can only vent his anger through "online games." He has a subtle entanglement with band vocalist Rao Xingxing and the宅舞 dancer played by Li Xue, stemming from a theft incident, capturing a delicate sense of melancholy as if nothing had existed after "disappearance." Zheng Youjie transforms from a gentle image, growing a stubble and gaining weight, even going into frenzied rages, with vacant eyes reflecting a dim quietude of disillusionment with the world; Rao Xingxing portrays a band vocalist maintaining a transparent distance from the world, unable to prevent herself from falling into a pit of imagined reality; Li Xue completely retreats into the safe barrier of her room, with her life sinking into a deep water zone that cannot resurface.
