In the spring of 1941, in Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture, Japan. 17-year-old Sakiyama Toshihiko (played by Tsubukusa Shunsuke) lives with his aunt, Egama Keiko (played by Tokiwa Takako). With a carefree youth, he enjoys happy days with his friends. Among them, the beautiful boy Tsuji (played by Mitsushima Shinnosuke), with a physique like a Greek god, the monk-like Kira (played by Nagatsuka Keishi), and the funny and noisy Asu (played by Emoto Tasuku) are his best friends. Toshihiko has a cousin, Mina (played by Yahagi Honoka), who is the daughter of Aunt Keiko. Mina suffers from lung disease, delicate and pale, which makes her all the more enchanting, drawing the attention of hormonal Toshihiko. Meanwhile, beautiful girls like Ai (played by Yamazaki Hironari) and Chitose (played by Kadokawa Miku) surround him. The boys and girls laugh and play, running freely on the edge of youth. However, when the bell of war tolls, their pure white youth shatters into pieces, drifting through the air.
