In a near-future Earth where yellow sand covers the land and basic crops like wheat and okra have gone extinct due to blight, humanity no longer gazes at the stars with imagination and inspiration as before. Instead, they count down the dwindling days while facing the ravages of dust storms. Former NASA astronaut Cooper (played by Matthew McConaughey), who is now a farmer, discovers strange gravitational phenomena in his daughter Murphy's (played by Mackenzie Foy) study, and soon learns that a secret plan to save humanity is still being carried out by former NASA members in an unknown region. Years ago, a mysterious wormhole appeared near Saturn, providing NASA with the opportunity to send several astronauts to distant galaxies in search of habitable planets. Persuaded by Professor Brand (played by Michael Caine), Cooper reluctantly bids farewell to his daughter and joins three other experts – his daughter Amelia Brand (played by Anne Hathaway), Romilly (played by David Gyasi), and Doyle (played by Wes Bentley) – to embark on a journey to explore the three most hopeful planets known at this time.
