The 18-year-old protagonist, En, is conscripted into the army, facing his grandmother's dementia, his mother's affair with an officer, and the sudden death of his grandfather, which unearths a heartbreaking past of his deceased father; while seeking the truth, he realizes that the elegy of his first love has already begun, and the painful family history turns to smoke. Wu Junfeng, Singapore's most prolific young filmmaker, trained in the academy and has made countless award-winning short films (such as "Family Portrait" in 2009). Last year, his short film "Jungle Bay" was shortlisted for the Berlin Teddy Award, and his debut feature "Sandcastle" returns to his feelings for home and country, becoming the first film from Singapore to enter the Cannes Critics' Week.
