"On the Aisle" premiered in the competition section of the 2018 Berlin Film Festival. Stuber opens a window into the lives of ordinary workers in East Germany, where daily life is transformed into magical realism, and a tender love story is momentarily redirected towards a sense of hope. Shy and reclusive Christian loses his job and subsequently starts working at a wholesale market, where he receives fatherly care from Bruno in the beverages department. Christian falls for Marion, with whom he often jokes around, but Marion is already married, and Christian’s feelings for her seem to lead nowhere.
