A woman working as a nanny for a French family moves with them back to France, entering a white-dominated country. She feels like a lost bird, trapped in a closed apartment, working day and night on trivial household chores like a near slave. Finally, after her self-esteem is hurt by her mistress, she commits suicide by cutting her wrists, ending a tragedy of exploitation both materially and spiritually.
