Eiichi (played by Ken Takakura) is a police detective known for his precise shooting skills. He deeply loves his wife, but he is shocked to discover that the woman he trusted most betrayed him, leading to a painful decision of divorce. Aiba (played by Hidetaka Ōtaki) is Eiichi's shooting instructor, who is assassinated. Eiichi follows the clues left by the killer and finds the killer's sister, Reiko. Ultimately, using Reiko as bait, Eiichi successfully captures the mastermind, Akamatsu. Later, he encounters a bar owner named Kiriko (played by Chieko Baisho), and the two quickly fall in love. Kiriko's tenderness makes Eiichi contemplate resigning. However, at this crucial moment, he discovers that Kiriko's lover, Morikawa, is the true murderer of Aiba. Driven by a sense of justice, Eiichi personally shoots Morikawa.
