After graduating, four university classmates—Birdy (Wang Yeming), Molly (Ni Shujun), Qiqi (Chen Xiangqi), and Xiaoming (Wang Weiming)—are working in different jobs. Despite varying degrees of external glamour, they all experience the awkward transition from students to working adults. Among them, the hardest to navigate is Qiqi, who finds herself caught between her friend Molly and her boyfriend Xiaoming. She can only work quietly in hopes that the careers and lives of her friend and boyfriend will improve, thereby enhancing their relationships, but instead, misunderstandings arise on both sides. Molly's brother-in-law (Yan Hongya), after concluding that life consists of various combinations of jokes, begins to look back to Confucius from more than two thousand years ago. However, while he believes he has regained his spiritual home, he encounters the same feelings of helplessness as Qiqi—both are seen merely as skilled actors. The absurdity and paradox of life unfold here, where performance is only deemed "real and credible" if it resonates with the observer's (audience's) feelings.
