The suspect, Wiga (played by Gian Maria Volonté), escorted by Inspector Marty, escapes from the train. Marty immediately contacts headquarters to set up roadblocks and deploys police forces to vigorously search for Wiga. Corey (played by Alain Delon) is released early from prison and that night finds his old friend Rick, extorts money and a gun from him, then buys a car to leave the area.
