Citrus Blossom The city of Shirakawa Island was once the only remaining one-island, one-city in the country but has been decided to be merged with the city on the opposite shore. A housewife living on the island, Misato Fukuda, encounters novelist Shoko Katsuragi at the city's closing ceremony—her sister who left the island 20 years ago and never returned after moving to Tokyo. Shoko, who has found success as a writer, reads with sadness an article filled with profound emotions towards her hometown. At the end of the closing ceremony, Misato is stopped by Shoko’s former classmate Kunihiro Miyashita, at which point Shoko also appears before Misato. Unfazed by Misato's obvious disdain, Shoko joins them in Kunihiro's car, heading toward the home where their mother and Misato's husband and daughter are waiting. Misato begins to reflect on the past—20 years ago, that summer when her father died in an accident, a young man from the city named Kenichi Okuzumi brought a breath of fresh air to the mother-and-daughter trio struggling to make ends meet. Misato and Kenichi made a promise, but the promise was never fulfilled, leading to her resentment against her sister. The sister who left the island, the younger sister who stayed behind. After 20 years, their mother Anka has developed dementia. Misato begins to suspect something, and Shoko reveals an astonishing truth... Star of the Sea Yohei Hamazaki, born on Shirakawa Island, lives in a Tokyo apartment with his wife Tomomi and son Taichi. One day, he receives a postcard from his high school classmate Misaki Mano. She mentions that she is about to start working in Tokyo and wants to meet Yohei to discuss matters about their fathers. Twenty years ago, on a fall day when Yohei was in sixth grade, his father Hidetoshi went missing. He left home saying, "I’m going to buy a cigarette," and vanished without a trace. Was it an accident, or was he caught up in something? Afterward, his mother Yoko took Yohei with her every night to search for Hidetoshi. Since his father's disappearance, Yoko began working, and seeing his mother toil day and night for the family, Yohei decided to take out a fishing rod he had stored away in the attic to help make ends meet. While Yohei was fishing, a fisherman named Yukisaku Mano approached him, carrying a fishing box. Claiming to be a fisherman, Yukisaku would often give Yohei fish from his box while chatting with him. He occasionally visited Yohei’s home but eventually became distant due to an incident, after which they never saw each other again. The Misaki who sent the postcard is Yukisaku's daughter. What she desperately wants to discuss with Yohei is a secret that Yukisaku recently revealed to her... Line of Clouds Popular singer Hirotaka Kurosaki, born on Shirakawa Island, returns to his hometown after seven years but falls into the sea and loses consciousness. As no suicide note was found, the media considers the possibility of it being an accident. For Hirotaka, who has gained fame, his hometown is a past he wishes to keep hidden. An incident involving his mother, Ritsuko, during his infancy forged a difficult childhood in his hometown. A month ago, Hirotaka received a call from his former classmate Yuya Mara. Yuya's father, who founded the Mara Iron Works, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, and he wants to invite Hirotaka as a guest for the commemorative banquet. Hirotaka, claiming he needs permission from his agency, struggled to refuse Yuya's strong insistence. Returning to his hometown with heavy steps, Hirotaka feels uncomfortable amidst the enthusiastic applause of the islanders. What exactly has happened to him...?
