During his college years, Scott (played by Kevin James) was an ambitious wrestler whose passion for wrestling filled his life with challenges and excitement. He naively believed that this passion would never fade. However, at the age of 42, Scott suddenly finds himself a middle-aged teacher leading a mundane life, with a dull work environment and a stagnant career, where a part of him has long since died. To cut costs, the school has decided to eliminate the music class, and as the music teacher, Marty (played by Henry Winkler) faces the prospect of being fired. Marty's tragic fate ignites Scott's fighting spirit, and he decides to help his friend. By participating in underground boxing matches, Scott raises funds to preserve the music class's position in the school, though his actions are misunderstood by others. Yet deep within Scott, the answer to whether to give up or persevere is already clear.
