On November 2, 1975, the body of the renowned Italian director Pasolini was found at Ostia beach near Rome, showing evident signs of having been violently attacked before his death. Just prior to this, he had completed the film "Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom," which is often ranked as the leading banned film in the world. Rumors suggested that the murderer was a 17-year-old male prostitute, adding a sensational element to this tragedy, while others speculated that the death of this influential figure was entirely a political conspiracy, with the truth of the matter still remaining a mystery. The film selects the last day of Pasolini (Willem Dafoe) before his murder. The director portrays a peaceful and serene meal with his beloved mother, former boyfriend, and an actress from "Salò," along with a gathering of close friends to share recent film ideas, before driving through areas frequented by male prostitutes in search of a one-night stand. Ferrara boldly presents the manuscript of Pasolini’s next work — a film filled with explicit sexual content exploring the universe and truth — in his unique style, combined with documentary elements to create a transformative narrative.
