This film is a playful work by the famous director Alfred Hitchcock, deliberately experimenting with long takes, many of which exceed several minutes. One of the long takes transitions from outdoor action to indoor, weaving through more than a dozen actors for around ten minutes, creating an extremely prominent and captivating effect. Bergman's passionate performance is also remarkable. The Australia of 1830 is a territory for British exiled prisoners. A young Englishman (played by Michael Wilding) arrives in Australia with his uncle to seek opportunities, becoming entangled in a complex relationship with a couple of unique backgrounds.
