The Inamura family living in Tokyo has a glamorous and enviable luxurious appearance. However, within the family members, there are many seeds of instability buried. The head of the family, Tatsuya Inamura (played by Yasunori Danda), is the head of the internal medicine department at a hospital; he is submissive at home but has a mistress outside. His wife, Haruko (played by Kimiko Yo), is proud and overbearing, and has a tense relationship with her lonely mother-in-law. The three sons are completely unruly, smoking, stealing money, and each showing off their own abilities. One day, the Inamura family welcomes a new maid, Nobuko Kono (played by Ryoko Yonekura). Nobuko appears rough and superficial, flustered and careless, but is actually meticulous and can discern the hidden secrets of each family member through their subtle words and actions. How will her arrival impact the Inamura family... This film is a special project commemorating the 20th anniversary of the death of Japan's famous mystery writer Seicho Matsumoto, and also marks the 55th anniversary of Asahi TV's broadcast.
