The story takes place in a city called Iolph, where people born there have limitless lifespans but remain physically 15 years old. Maquia (voiced by Inoue Marina) is one such native girl from Iolph. One day, in an attempt to seize the blood of immortality, the Mesati army launches an aerial attack on Iolph using ancient divine beasts, resulting in heavy casualties. Maquia's friend Relfia (voiced by Kayano Ai) is captured, and along with her, the boy Maquia has a crush on, Krim (voiced by Kaji Yuuki), also goes missing. In the dark forest, the surviving Maquia finds a baby boy whose parents died in the previous attack. Maquia raises him as her own, naming him Ariel (voiced by Iino Miyu).
