The film depicts an American businessman who, on behalf of his company, travels to the Mangle Coast to negotiate the purchase of land for building an oil factory. The local customs, landmarks, and the daily lives of the residents are in stark contrast to his urban background, making him feel utterly bored. Unexpectedly, after the company president visits the small town for inspection, he changes his mind and decides to establish an astronomical college there. Upon returning to his residence in the U.S., the businessman can't help but reminisce about the endless Mangle Coast.
