A French volunteer corps stationed in a colonial territory in East Africa, which adheres strictly to the principles of doctrine, honor, and obedience, welcomes a group of new recruits. Among them, the standout is Santin (Grégoire Colin), who possesses handsome looks and a strong physique, attracting the passionate gazes of both Commander Bruno (Michel Subor) and Lieutenant Bougrou (Denis Lavant). As their interactions develop, Santin and Bruno gradually exhibit ambiguous homosexual feelings, which displeases Bougrou, leading to a mix of emotions including jealousy. Ultimately, he sets a trap to force Santin out of the corps, which results in the end of his own volunteer career.
