In a rural area of the Hokuriku region, the couple Hego dies in a car accident. Their eldest son Hirodo takes over the family business, while his diligent new wife Kyouko manages the household under Hirodo's harsh treatment and cares for Hirodo's asthmatic younger sister Kiyomi (played by Ami Satukawa).
