In 1916, the European battlefield of World War I was in a stalemate. Lieutenant Woodward (played by Brendan Cowell) from Australia took over a demolition team in a dimly lit tunnel. Eighteen months earlier, Woodward was far from the battlefield, engaged in mining demolition work in Papua, gradually establishing a relationship with his young girlfriend. As the war progressed, Woodward answered the call and joined the army, leveraging his demolition expertise to head to Europe. His initial performance did not impress his subordinates, but after successfully destroying a German machine gun position, Woodward and his comrades were sent to the "60th Position" in Belgium, a German stronghold that made Allied soldiers shudder; it was said that the trenches of the Allies before the 60th Position were soaked in blood. Upon arrival, Woodward and his team found that their comrades had already placed a million pounds of explosives in the tunnels beneath the 60th Position, but the timing for detonation remained uncertain...
