In order to enhance the local profile, Ōita City Mayor Kenichirō Hanamiya (portrayed by Tōru Nakamura) decides to form a flashy women's tug-of-war team, with Chika Nishikawa (played by Mao Inoue) from the city's public relations department appointed as the person in charge of the project. Although local women's tug-of-war once had its glory days, it is no longer what it used to be. Frustrated, Chika has a sudden idea and decides to organize her mother Yōko (played by Keiko Matsuzaka) and her colleagues from the meal preparation center. They agree with the mayor that if they can qualify for the national competition, the order to shut down the meal preparation center will be revoked. With Chika included, this makeshift and unmotivated women's tug-of-war team finally takes shape, and they also hire Kōsuke (played by Tetsuji Tamayama), who comes from a farming background, as their coach. The road to the national competition is filled with challenges, and how will this troubled and conflicting group of women achieve their goals?
