The story takes place in the picturesque Hokkaido, where a devastating fire reduces a hotel to ashes. A thirty-year-old woman named Yukata Seiko (played by Aibu Saki) becomes a victim of the disaster. After the police investigation, various signs at the scene indicate that this is a case of suicide, which subsequently unravels Seiko's tragic past. Kichiro (played by Okuda Eiji) is Seiko's husband; however, he had a romantic history with Seiko's mother, Fujishima Ritsuko (played by Takigawa Yumi), which has created significant tension between Seiko and Ritsuko. 　　　　　Zemuki Masahiro (played by Ozawa Seiyu) is Seiko's lover and is the last person to see her alive.
