The film takes place over a 24-hour period and follows the charming yet troubled Ben Burns, who returns home unaware of the chaos he's about to bring on a disastrous Christmas Eve. His mother, Holly Burns, welcomes her beloved son cautiously yet warmly, only to realize that he still harbors significant issues. During this life-changing 24 hours, she will do everything in her power to keep the family from falling apart. Vance plays Ben’s stepfather, who has his own ideas on parenting and directly conflicts with Holly. Katherine Newton portrays 17-year-old Ivy Burns, a beautiful singer who loves her brother but doesn't believe he can become a better person. She disapproves of the impact he has on the family, yet understands his importance to their mother and knows she should help him get back on track.
