Ten years ago, director Ryo Takeuchi left a regret while filming the documentary "Chronicle of Yangtze River" for NHK: he failed to capture "the first drop of water from the source of the Yangtze River." Ten years later, having moved to Nanjing, China, he is determined to make up for this regret. After two years of careful preparation, he once again embarked on a 6,300-kilometer journey along the Yangtze River in 2021, reuniting with old friends. Through Ryo Takeuchi's lens, there are not only magnificent natural landscapes but also the genuine smiles of ordinary people and touching stories that bring tears to the eyes. He captured the local customs and the real lives of the people along the Yangtze River, showcasing the tremendous changes in China over the past decade following its economic boom. As a foreigner who has lived in China for nearly ten years, director Ryo Takeuchi hopes to present the real Chinese people and the true China to the world while fulfilling his ten-year promise. The film version, re-edited by director Takeuchi, will provide audiences with a brand new audiovisual experience.
