"Big City Small Village," developed and written by Mike Daniels, revolves around residents of various ages, races, cultures, and lifestyles living in an apartment building in Manhattan, intertwined in a familial-like existence. Michaela McManus plays Sarah, a nurturing nurse who was once a teenage mother, now her daughter is following the same path. Grace Van Dien plays Katie, an independent, intelligent single mother of a latchkey child, working hard to make ends meet. When artist and activist Katie is seen by her mother Sarah as rebelling, tensions rise between them. Moran Atias plays Edda, an Iranian immigrant detained by ICE for possessing false citizenship documents; Jerod Haynes plays local officer Ben; and Frankie Faison plays the helpful Ron. Warren Christie portrays Nick, a former special forces member who lost his leg during service; as he returns to his Manhattan community, everyone thanks him, but he only wants to return to a normal life. Daren Kagasoff plays Gabe Deluca, the doorman and son of Enzo. Lorraine Toussaint portrays Patricia, gentle and energetic, viewed as a grandmother figure, a social worker with no children, becoming a caretaker for all residents. However, after being diagnosed with cancer, Patricia finds a sense of peace in her previously fulfilled life. Dominic Chianese plays the stubborn Enzo, who wants to leave the nursing home to live with his grandson, but while he indulges the boy, he also makes him face challenges.
