The UK's Independent Television (ITV) commissioned the satirical puppet show "Newzoids" for its prime time slot, involving some of the behind-the-scenes personnel from its classic comedy "Spitting Image," including Jon Culshaw and Debra Stephenson. "Spitting Image" first premiered on ITV in 1984, causing quite a stir with its satirical and parodic portrayal of various characters through puppetry, including politicians, actors, royal family members, and celebrities, continuing until 1995. "Newzoids" aims its "arrows" at UK Prime Minister David Cameron and his deputy Greta Cacia, as well as TV personalities like Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, hosts of "Saturday Night Takeaway." The show will be co-produced by Citrus Television, created by one of "Spitting Image" producers Giles Pilbrow, and animation production experts Factory. ITV's Director of Entertainment Elaine Bedell stated, "ITV has launched numerous popular satirical comedies at the peak of their development on major channels, and 2015 is the right time to revive this genre.
