A comedy by the BBC about the Metropolitan Police Service's "Suspicious Old Cases" department. The head of the group is female DS Sandra Pullman, and since the focus is on old cases, she recruits three retired detectives: Jack, who buries his deceased wife in the backyard and chats with her every day; Gerry, who was infamous for his womanizing in his youth, now has to have dinner with three ex-wives and four daughters; and Brian, a compulsive, former alcoholic, and conspiracy theorist. The title is taken from an old saying: "You can't teach an old dog new tricks." However, these old-timers successfully apply their experience and skills in the new era, with seemingly outdated tricks solving difficult cases.
