A comedy by the BBC about the Metropolitan Police's "Mystery Old Cases" department. The head of the team is female DS Sandra Pullman, and since it involves old cases, they have hired three retired detectives: Jack, who chats with his deceased wife buried in the backyard every day; Gerry, once famous for being a ladies' man, now has to have dinner with three ex-wives and four daughters; and Brian, a compulsive and former alcoholic conspiracy theorist. The title is derived from an old saying: “You can't teach an old dog new tricks.” This group of old-timers, however, successfully uses their experience and skills from the past, proving that those difficult cases can be solved with seemingly outdated old tricks.
