"Ten Ten and the Street Gambler" tells the story of mahjong centered around the character Daitatsu Ten, serialized from 1989 to 2002 in Zhushu's "Modern Mahjong Gold." Regarding this live-action adaptation, lead actor Kishitani said, "I first had to start learning from the basics of mahjong. Under the guidance of a professional acting coach, I learned how to handle the mahjong tiles. While on the Shinkansen (a bullet train), I kept practicing with the tiles to become accustomed to mahjong." The original author, Nobuyuki Fukumoto, stated, "I believe that the team who produced 'Silver and Gold' can showcase the interesting aspects of mahjong in a drama.
