The FX drama "Snowfall" has officially been picked up for a first season of 10 episodes, created by John Singleton, and the story revolves around the spread of drug trafficking in Los Angeles in the 1980s. The screenplay is co-written by Singleton, director of "Boyz N The Hood," and Eric Amadio, with direction by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah. The pilot episode underwent reshoots, and Dave Andron was brought on as a producer, while the series received a tax incentive. The story of "Snowfall" is set in the early days of drug proliferation, which is widely known to have cultural implications. Franklin Saint (played by Damson Idris) sees himself as a street "entrepreneur," aspiring for power; he was born and raised in South Los Angeles but studied in a better area in the San Gabriel Valley, determined to improve his life by any means. Gustavo Zapata (played by Sergio Peris-Mencheta), a Mexican wrestler, finds himself entangled in the power struggles of a criminal family. Teddy McDonald (played by Carter Hudson) is a CIA agent with dark secrets, conducting a covert operation to fund Nicaraguan anti-government activities. Emily Rios plays Lucia, the daughter of a Mexican crime family in Los Angeles who is trying to remain pure while her family traffics marijuana into the city. Michael Hyatt portrays Sharon Saint, also known as Cissy, Franklin's mother, who struggles both personally and professionally but is willing to give up her dreams to provide her son with opportunities she never had. Amin Joseph plays Franklin's uncle Jerome Saint, a tough guy and con artist in prison, involved in low-level marijuana dealing. Alon Aboutboul plays Avi Drexler, an unpredictable cocaine dealer in the San Fernando Valley. Isaiah John's character details are unspecified. Angela Lewis portrays Louise Saint, Franklin's sister-in-law who enjoys partying, while Juan Javier Cardenas plays the cunning Alejandro Usteves, a Nicaraguan rebel willing to go to any lengths to maintain the revolution. Filipe Valle Costa plays the arrogant Pedro, the heir of the Mexican crime family.
