In Edo-period Japan, a game called "Hyakumonogatari" became popular: a group of people lights one hundred oil lamps, and then each person takes turns telling ghost stories. After each story is told, one lamp is extinguished. It is said that when the last lamp is blown out, real supernatural beings will be summoned. "Strange Tales of a Hundred Stories" presents eleven well-known mysterious and supernatural stories, each episode featuring a different tale. The onmyoji (played by Naoto Takenaka), who can witness the spirits and vengeful creatures, serves as the connection between each story. He is a descendant of a great onmyoji, yet lives a destitute life. His presence always brings various supernatural happenings, and he tries his best to solve the mysteries and banish evil spirits. One night, he experiences a terrifying nightmare, and the next day he finds that the nightmare has actually come true. As events unfold, various conspiracies gradually come to light. He slowly discovers that these so-called supernatural phenomena are actually caused by people themselves...
