Teenager Haiber (Roberto Cobo) escapes from a juvenile detention center and leads the kids in bullying a blind old man (Miguel Inclán) who performs in the marketplace, robbing him and breaking his drum. In the evening, a nameless country boy "Little Eyes" (Mário Ramírez) is abandoned by his father at the fair. One of the children named Pedro (Alfonso Mejía) takes pity on him and brings him to spend the night in his friend's barn. Pedro himself is disliked by his mother (Estela Inda) for hanging out with delinquents all day and not helping the family, and is kicked out of the house. Haiber, seeking revenge for a past conflict with another boy from a year ago, convinces Pedro to help him find the other boy. Pedro wants to escape from Haiber and regain his mother's love, but things are not as simple as he imagined... This film was nominated for Best Film at the 1951 Cannes Film Festival and won Best Director. In 1953, it won the Best Film award from the British Film and Television Institute.
