The UK’s Independent Television (ITV) commissioned the satirical puppet show "Newzoids" for its prime time slot, featuring contributions from some of the behind-the-scenes team of its classic comedy "Spitting Image," including Jon Culshaw and Debra Stephenson. "Spitting Image" debuted on ITV in 1984 and created quite a stir by caricaturing various figures, including politicians, actors, royal family members, and celebrities, in a humorous and satirical manner, running until 1995. "Newzoids" takes aim at British Prime Minister David Cameron and his deputy Greta Cacia, as well as TV personalities Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, host of "Saturday Night Takeaway." The show will be jointly produced by Citrus Television, created by "Spitting Image" producer Giles Pilbrow, and animation production experts Factory. ITV's entertainment director Elaine Bedell stated, "ITV once launched many popular satirical comedies at the peak of development on major channels, and the time has come to revive this genre in 2015. We are excited to include 'Newzoids' in our comedy portfolio, offering a sharp and humorous perspective on the world of politicians and celebrities."
