Hiroichi Miyazawa (played by Koji Yakusho) is the fourth-generation president of "Koguyakoya," a century-old manufacturer of tabi (split-toed socks worn with wooden clogs) located in Gyoda, Saitama Prefecture. He works diligently every day; however, due to the intricate nature of tabi as handmade products, he is troubled by cash flow issues. At this moment, through discussions with a bank executive, Miyazawa begins to consider expanding into new fields. If he does not launch a new venture, not only will expanding the company be difficult, but the company's survival will also be at risk. The new project he plans to embark on is to utilize the technique of tabi manufacturing to develop a new type of running shoe that imparts a "barefoot feel." However, for a small local business with only about twenty employees, this is undoubtedly a challenging path. The development of the new product lacks funding, talent, and R&D capabilities, and it will also face competition from world-renowned sports brands. Although Miyazawa encounters many setbacks, with the help of his family, employees, customers, the bank executive, and friends, he overcomes each challenge one by one. So, will the development of the running shoe be successful? What will the future of "Koguyakoya" look like?
