Chinese girl Wan Yun (played by Liu Yun) discovers her grandaunt Wan Jingxian's (played by Wang Pei) diary after her passing. The diary, which recounts her grandaunt's war experiences and emotions during her youth, as well as the brave story of the 800 soldiers who jumped into the river during the Anti-Japanese War, deeply moves Wan Yun. She decides to follow in her grandaunt's footsteps in search of the truth. Japanese man Nakamura Ichiro (played by Tenma Shibuya) is raised by his father, Old Nakamura, who suffers from Alzheimer's and is haunted by his wartime experiences. In hopes of providing his father with a peaceful old age, Nakamura Ichiro embarks on a journey to Majia Cliff. Two young people from different nationalities, cultures, and life experiences meet at the same location… Monuments, mass graves, revolutionary memorial halls, and the memories of elder Yang Zhenjiang (played by Li Liqiun) gradually piece together, revealing a long-buried story of the Anti-Japanese War before the two of them.
