Reiko, the head of the Wakana family (played by Mieko Harada), has recently been frequently forgetful. After examination, it was discovered that she is suffering from a very rare brain tumor, with maybe less than a week to live. This news hits the three men of the Wakana family like a bolt from the blue, leaving them flustered and at a loss. Reiko's husband, Kakuaki (played by Kyōsan Nagatsuka), resigned from his company to start his own business years ago, but to this day, he still bears a heavy debt, living in very tight circumstances. Their eldest son, Kōsuke (played by Sōta Matsukaze), and his wife, Miyuki (Mai Kurokawa), are about to welcome a new life, and this sudden change has left him overwhelmed and distressed. The youngest son, Shunpei (played by Sōsuke Ikematsu), who seems cold and eccentric, becomes Reiko's most trusted listener during her illness, and through this process, Shunpei seems to slowly grow into a man capable of standing on his own. The ordinary yet touching story of the Wakana family unfolds quietly around the ailing matriarch... This film is adapted from a novel based on the true experiences of Kazuma Sayo.
