The story takes place in Eastern Europe in 1835, where the gendarme Constantin (played by Teodor Corban) is pursuing the slave Kafe (played by Toma Cuzin) in the vast desert, accompanied by his son Ivonita (played by Mihai Comanoiu), because this slave has an illicit relationship with his employer's wife.
