The Japanese invaders occupy Beijing, and the secret formula of the "Bai Family Old Shop" becomes the target of the Japanese army's coveting. Determined to resist the Japanese, Master Bai Qi, Bai Jingqi (played by Chen Baoguo), secretly transfers the formula that night with Li Xiangxiu (played by Jiang Shan), but faces unanimous opposition from Yang Jiuhong (played by He Saifei) and others. Bai Qi’s grandson, Bai Zhanyuan (played by Tong Ruixin), who insists on resisting the Japanese, escapes to the liberated area to join the Eighth Route Army. As the president of the business association, Master Bai smuggles a large amount of banned medicine to the frontline of the anti-Japanese resistance and the liberated area. When Master Bai is imprisoned, Li Xiangxiu brokers various negotiations and ultimately proves his innocence. Finally, Japan surrenders, and the family rejoices. The liberation army marches into Beijing, and the Bai family undergoes profound ideological education. In the "public-private partnership" movement, Master Bai presents the century-old "Bai Family Secret Recipe" to the country. However, the Bai family turns against each other over the division of properties, and Master Bai witnesses various misfortunes at home. He sets up a will to donate the family’s assets to the Forbidden City. The sequel, "Da Zhai Men 2," written and directed by renowned Chinese filmmaker Guo Baochang, not only continues to utilize the strong original cast but also introduces a new generation of powerful actors including Jiang Shan, Liu Bei, Yu Feihong, Wang Qian, Liu Bin, and Tong Ruixin. This installment continues to revolve around the Bai family, a large family that rises and falls with the nation, faithfully reflecting and witnessing the historical processes during the late Qing Dynasty, the Republic of China, the warlord era, and liberation.
